Be Prepared at Home

I recently read an article by the Chief Nurse in Milton Keynes, Gillian Prager, which appeared in the Citizen Magazine which was launching the first of a series of health features encouraging people with self care.  This initiative is to encourage people to be prepared at home for minor ailments, leaving the A&E department for real emergencies.

Until you need first aid you don't realise how important it is.  Don't be caught out.  Make sure you have a good first aid kit, kept in a safe place alongside various medicines e.g. cold remedies (for this time of year), infection control - coming soon  (reduce the risk of spreading sickness and diarrhoea and other fast spreading infections), pain control tablets etc.  If children are present in the household these should ideally be kept in a lockable cabinet.  Hand Sanitisers are a must.
